Comments: Since the last situation report (5/22/2023), there have been 7 new VSV-affected premises identified (0 confirmed positive, 7 suspect) in two counties (San Diego and Riverside Counties) in California. To date, all confirmed cases have been vesicular stomatitis New Jersey virus (VSNJV) serotype. Updates are as follows: California • Riverside County – 2 new suspect equine premises • San Diego County – 4 new suspect equine premises and 1 suspect bovine premises (1 backyard beef steer with lesions out of 3 cattle on the premises); 1 equine premises previously reported as suspect has been reclassified as confirmed VSV-positive • Since the last situation report (5/22/2023), the following previously VSV-suspect or confirmed positive premises have been released from quarantine: 2 premises in Riverside County and 1 premises in San Diego County. Since the start of the outbreak, 26 VSV-affected premises have been identified (9 confirmed positive, 17 suspect) in 1 state, California.  Twenty-five (25) of these premises have had only equine species clinically affected in 2 counties (Riverside and San Diego Counties) and one (1) premises has had clinically affected cattle (San Diego County).
