Specific premises will not be named but the general location by town, county and state will be listed. When locations, events or horses are at risk they will be listed. A horse stabled in the town of Mentz has tested positive for West Nile Virus, the Cayuga County Health Department announced Monday 9-14-2015.
September 15, 2015 Eastern Equine Encephalitis Barry County, MI Information Only
LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Michigan officials say a horse in Barry County has been diagnosed with a serious mosquito-borne disease. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says it’s the first reported case of Eastern equine encephalitis in the state this year.
September 12, 2015 Equine Infectious Anemia Marshall County, KY Confirmed case(s): Quarantine
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is reporting today that during the past two weeks, four horses in Western Kentucky’s Marshall County have tested positive for equine infectious anemia (EIA). These are the first Kentucky horses found positive for the viral disease since 2007.

The Kentucky State Veterinarian's office has announced Sept. 1 that a Shelby County horse has tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), the third confirmed case in the commonwealth this year.
September 01, 2015 Eastern Equine Encephalitis Gloucester County, NJ Information Only
A 2-year-old Gloucester County filly is the first reported case in 2015 of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), a serious, mosquito-borne illness in horses. The horse had not been vaccinated against EEE was humanely euthanized on Aug. 25.
August 27, 2015 Vesicular Stomatitis Goshen and Platte counties, WY Confirmed case(s): Quarantine
August 11, 2015--The Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) outbreak continues to expand in Wyoming. Cases have been reported in horses on 6 different premises in Goshen County to date. Eight premises in Platte County have recently been quarantined. Cases in Platte County involve both horses and cattle.
August 22, 2015 Eastern Equine Encephalitis Chesapeake, VA Information Only
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) today announced the second case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in a Virginia horse this year. The horse, a three-year-old Tennessee Walker mare, was from Chesapeake and had only been purchased by the owner three weeks ago. Its vaccination history is unknown. The horse exhibited signs August 13 and was euthanized August 14 due to the severity of the illness. VDACS received confirmation from the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa on August 21. Both cases of EEE this year have been in horses from Chesapeake.
August 21, 2015 West Nile Virus Valencia County, NM Information Only
New Mexico Confirms the First 2015 Case of Equine West Nile Virus The first 2015 Equine West Nile case in New Mexico was confirmed on August 20, 2015 in an unvaccinated 4 y/o Valencia Co Mustang mare. The horse first demonstrated clinical neurologic signs of disease on August 13, 2015. The horse is under veterinary care and has shown improvement with partial resolution of clinical signs of disease. Horse owners are encouraged to consult with their veterinarians to ensure that annual vaccination for WNV is part of their horse health plan.
August 18, 2015 West Nile Virus Orange County, VA Information Only
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) today announced the state’s first positive case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a horse in 2015. The horse, a five-year-old Choctaw mare, is from Orange County. The horse was not currently vaccinated for WNV. The onset of WNV symptoms started August 3, 2015. Since July 3, 2015, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) has reported multiple positive cases of West Nile virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in horses located across the state of Texas.
